MULÚ

Mulú is a DJ and music producer blending electronic music, funk carioca and Brazilian rhythms across live sets, productions and soundtracks.

Mulú is one of the most original and influential music producers and DJs in Brazil. He built his career by fusing global electronic music with urban and traditional Brazilian rhythms, creating a unique sonic language recognized by critics, artists, and audiences both domestically and internationally.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Mulú grew up between Rio and São Paulo, influenced by different scenes, rhythms, and ways of occupying the city through music. In Rio, he was immersed in the power of funk and samba; in São Paulo, he found electronic music taking over the dance floors in clubs. This experience spanning different cities, cultures, and musical circuits fueled his sonic curiosity and helped shape his distinct creativity, always attuned to the popular, urban, and contemporary expressions of Brazil.

Early in his career, Mulú developed and popularized rasteirinha, an electronic style combining funk carioca and reggaeton, documented by Folha de São Paulo and O Globo as one of the most relevant rhythmic innovations of that period. His work caught the attention of renowned music researcher Hermano Vianna, who identified a fresh and authentic sound in the young producer.

In 2015, he co-produced Pabllo Vittar's debut EP, Open Bar, mixing samba and other national rhythms with the heavy bass of urban electronic music. The work is widely cited as a turning point for Brazilian pop. Diplo, one of the scene's most influential producers, introduced Mulú to a global audience on BBC Radio 1, describing him as a "key person" in bridging the music scenes of Brazil and the world.

Over more than a decade, Mulú has amassed remixes and collaborations with heavyweights such as Diplo, Pabllo Vittar, Sofi Tukker, Bomba Estéreo, Luedji Luna, BaianaSystem, Branko, Elza Soares, and Duda Beat, among others, in addition to projecting the Brazilian sound at festivals like Tomorrowland and EDC. In 2023, "Bateu," a collaboration with Rachel Reis and Gilsons, was nominated for a Multishow Award. In 2025, "MTG Chihiro," featuring Duda Beat, received a nomination for the Brazilian Music Award. In 2026, he performed at Lincoln Center's Summer for the City in New York.

Mulú is also the co-founder of Arrastão, a creative sound laboratory that has served clients such as Grendene, Ambev, Ray-Ban, Red Bull, Rede Globo, Samsung, and Google, as well as composing soundtracks for films, series, and audiovisual projects.
